2010 Seminar Leaders
Dr. Michael Macdonald — Emeritus professor of European Studies and for many years Director of the C.S. Lewis Institute at Seattle Pacific University, retired in June 2007 after a 40 year career. Professor Macdonald, past president of both the Pacific Northwest Council on Foreign Languages and the Northwest Conference on Philosophy, is the author/editor of numerous articles and reviews as well as co-editor of GK Chesterton and CS Lewis: The Riddle of Joy and Permanent Things (both published by Eerdmans), and Europe A Tantalizing Romance (published by University Press of America). He is currently President of the Seattle Pacific emeriti faculty.
Dr. Jerry Root — Professor of Christian Formation and Ministry — Wheaton College, Illinois. Dr. Root is Co-Editor of The Quotable C.S. Lewis and author of many scholarly articles on Lewis. He has been reading Lewis for 35 years, teaching college and graduate courses on Lewis for 25 years, and has lectured on Lewis in many countries and on three continents. He served as Resident Fellow at the C.S. Lewis Study Centre at The Kilns in Oxford during the Summer Seminars in Residence. Previously a pastor of three congregations over 26 years, Dr. Root clearly exudes a pastoral heart that has deeply enriched the lives of all who have studied with him in the intimate setting of The Kilns.
