The International Centennial Celebration of C.S. Lewis' Birth
The C.S. Lewis Foundation of Redlands, California announces
Oxbridge '98, the fourth triennial C.S. Lewis Summer Institute
to be held July 19 - August 1 at Oxford and Cambridge
Universities, England.
REDLANDS, CA -- August 1, 1997 (CSLF) -- Lewisian scholars and
friends, together with an array of literary, visual, and
performing artists, will be guided by a world class faculty in
an exploration of the theme, "Loose in the Fire"
(inspired by Daniel 3:25), as they celebrate the life and legacy
of C. S. Lewis. The symposium will explore the bold, fruitful,
and yet imaginative contributions of C. S. Lewis while also
challenging Christians of this generation to "walk worthy of the
vocation to which they are called." The Summer Institute is a
highly interdisciplinary effort seeking a balanced integration
of the arts and sciences.
Internationally renowned faculty include Jeremie Begbie, Chuck
Colson, Tony Campolo, Michael Cassidy, Samuel Escobar, Paul
Ford, Paul Gooch, Nigel Goodwin, Douglas Gresham, Os Guinness,
Walter Hooper, Thomas Howard, Tom Key, Peter Kreeft, Madeleine
L'Engle, Mary Jo Leddy, George Marsden, J. Stanley Mattson,
Richard John Neuhaus, Lesslie Newbigin, James 1. Packer, Earl
Palmer, Ben Patterson, Barbara Reynolds, Luci Shaw, Kalistos
Ware, Francis Warner, Dallas Willard, William Willimon, Philip
Yancey, and many-others.
C.S. Lewis Foundation Institute programs are established
to encourage vital interaction between individuals drawn from
diverse vocations. Professionals from all fields, scholars,
students, clergy- literary, visual and performing artists, as
well as lay people of varying interests, will engage in lively
dialogue and experience numerous opportunities for professional
development and personal growth.
The C.S. Lewis Summer Institute is a program of the
C.S. Lewis Foundation of Redlands, California. The
Foundation's purpose is to encourage the renewal of Christian
thought and expression within the mainstream of our culture,
most particularly within the environs of secular colleges and
universities. This nonprofit public benefit corporation is
supported by the contributions of its growing number of
supporters with offices in Oxford, England and Redlands,
California.
