You said: The seed was still in the barn at the time of the promise, but the harvest was assured (Hag 2:18-19).
Sowing seed, vines and vineyards, fig trees and olive trees figure prominently in Jesus' parables (Matthew 13; 21; Luke 13; John 15) and the teaching of Paul (Romans 1:13; 11; 15). Do you see a connection between what Haggai is saying in 2:18-19 and Jesus' work in bringing Gentiles into his one flock and church being a blessing for Israel?

The Nobel committee has done nothing but become progressively more political and, hence, irrelevant for decades. "Not........the highest quality"? At least Tolkien was in good company in 1961.

Karen,

I'm so sorry I didn't see this comment until today, close to 2 years later! No doubt your daughter is already in a fine acting program. Would you mind catching me up at my e-mail address, ccematson AT gmail DOT com, if you see this? Let me know if you have any other questions at this stage. Unfortunately, the C.S. Lewis Foundation blog doesn't have a way to subscribe to a post's comments that I can see, so I never saw this comment before now.

And thanks for your welcome! Merry Christmas and a happy New Year!

Cole

P.S. - I stayed with the monks at Benedictine College for a couple nights this summer. I really enjoyed their hospitality, and Benedictine is high on my list of colleges to apply to for a teaching position once I finish my PhD. Go Ravens!

In your post, you mention the Screwtape Letters production would be coming to Dallas. The website does not list Dallas as a city. Did I miss it? Thanks

He would have absolutely abhorred being idolized. He wouldn't have been much happier about being memorialized either, probably. But too bad, let's do it anyway!
