CM-01 Poetry Workshop

Malcolm Guite

Session One: The Word and the Words: The call to be a Christian Poet

This session will explore how our calling as redeemed Christians can underpin and inform our calling as poets, how the redemption and celebration of words and meaning relate to the way the Word became flesh, died and rose again for us.

Session Two: Informed Freedom: Liberating Disciplines

This more practical session will look at how working with classical forms like the sonnet and the villanelle can, paradoxically, set our imagination free, how as with all the virtues, discipline and apparent restriction turn out to be empowering and liberating for the writer as well as the person.
