He has devoted much of his professional life to encouraging the renewal of a vital Christian presence within the mainstream world of secular higher education. In conjunction with this work, Dr. Mattson lectures widely on the life and legacy of C.S. Lewis and related subjects on many campuses and churches across America. He and his wife, Jean, have been married for 42 years and have two adult children and four grandsons.

John R.W. Stott

John R.W. StottNo British evangelical leader is held in higher esteem worldwide than John Stott—Rector Emeritus of All Souls Church, Langham Place, London, and Honorary Special Chaplain to the Queen. Dr. Stott has authored more than forty books, nearly all still in print. His most popular title, Basic Christianity, has sold over two million copies and been translated into 70+ languages! Though he has taught and preached in every corner of the globe, Dr. Stott has lived in the same five-square-block neighborhood of central London for more than 80 years. For writing, he often retreats to his primitive Welsh cottage, perfectly perched to look out over Pembrokeshire’s western tip. Our port call in Solva puts us in Dr. Stott’s “neighborhood,” and we look forward to his Sunday morning sermon as the guest preacher at St. David’s Cathedral.
