Accommodations

Much of the fun and fellowship of Oxbridge 2005 consists in staying “in college.” Five colleges have been selected to provide “on-campus” lodging accommodations for our conference registrants.

Please remember that the accommodations are student residences during the academic year. They are clean and quite adequate for most but do lack some of the amenities that a local hotel or bed-and-breakfast may provide. Those desiring hotel or bed-and-breakfast accommodations are encouraged to visit www.visitoxford.org or www.visitcambridge.org.

Oxford Accommodations:

St. Catherine’s College: Oxford Headquarters for Oxbridge 2005. The majority of our rooms in Oxford and the "Bag End Cafe" will be at St. Catherine’s, an architecturally contemporary college founded in 1962. St. Catherine’s is approximately a 20-minute walk from the city centre and our primary plenary venue site at St. Aldate’s Church. Conferees enjoy scheduled breakfast and dinner times at “St. Catz’s” each day. (Visit St. Catherine’s College at www.stcatz.ox.ac.uk.)

Keble College: Founded in honor of John Keble of the “Tractarian” movement in the 1870s, Keble College offers 60 rooms in an architectural setting ranging in style from Victorian Gothic to contemporary. The college’s beautiful chapel contains the original “Light of the World” painting that depicts Jesus standing at the door of the heart. Keble is approximately 15-minutes from the primary plenary venue. Conferees enjoy scheduled breakfast and dinner times at Keble’s exquisite dining hall each day. (Visit Keble College at www.keble.ox.ac.uk.)

Worcester College: Founded in 1283, Worcester College offers beautiful gardens, architecture, and the grandeur of a stunning chapel. The majority of the 64 rooms here are located in the Canal Building, which boasts modern amenities, including a kitchen area on each floor where conferees may visit together. A small number of remodeled ensuite rooms are located within the “old part” of the College. Worcester is approximately a 15-minute walk from the primary plenary venue. The College provides breakfast but does not serve dinner. Conferees will be given a dinner voucher to dine “outside” the college or will join another college for dinner. (Visit Worcester College at www.worcester.ox.ac.uk.)

Cambridge Accommodations:

Robinson College: Cambridge Headquarters for Oxbridge 2005. The majority of our rooms in Cambridge and the “Bag End Cafe” will be provided at Robinson. A modern college, dedicated by Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth II in 1981, Robinson is a pleasant 10-minute walk from the Faculty School of Music, our primary plenary venue in Cambridge, and an approximate 20-minute walk to the heart of Cambridge city centre. Conferees will enjoy scheduled breakfast and dinner times at Robinson each day. (Visit Robinson College at www.robinson.cam.ac.uk.)

Clare College: Clare College, founded in 1326, is the second oldest of the Cambridge colleges. It offers beautiful gardens and a campus that spans the River Cam. Most of the 120 rooms that Oxbridge conferees will occupy will be located in the newer part of the College, which is approximately 10-minutes from the primary plenary venue and 15 minutes from the heart of Cambridge city centre. Conferees will enjoy scheduled breakfast and dinner times at Clare each day. (Visit Clare College at www.clare.cam.ac.uk.)
