For more information on this production, please click the link to see more below.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoBodyText\"><strong><span>Chicago &#8211;<\/span><\/strong><span> <strong>THE SCREWTAPE LETTERS,<\/strong> the entertaining hit theatre production is being presented by Fellowship for the Performing Arts at the Paramount Theatre, 713 Congress Avenue in Austin, TX on Saturday, February 6 at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. only. The play has enjoyed sold-out runs in Chicago, New York, and Washington, D.C. and now makes its way to Austin. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoBodyText\"><span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoBodyText\"><strong><span>THE SCREWTAPE LETTERS<\/span><\/strong><span> is a funny, provocative and wickedly witty theatrical adaptation of C.S. Lewis\u2019 brilliant novel that explores the theme of spiritual warfare from a demon\u2019s point of view. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoBodyText\"><span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span>Adapted for the stage by Jeffrey Fiske and Max McLean, <strong>THE SCREWTAPE LETTERS<\/strong>, which runs 90 minutes without intermission, stars award-winning actors Max McLean and Karen Eleanor Wight.\u00a0 Set in an office in hell, the riveting play follows a senior devil, Screwtape (McLean) and his secretary, Toadpipe (Wight), as they train an apprentice demon, Wormwood, on how to \u201cundermine faith and prevent the formation of virtues\u201d in a young man who has just converted to Christianity. Lewis, a little known Oxford don whose field of study was Medieval English and literature.\u00a0 Over the past sixty-five years its wit and wisdom have made it one of his most widely read and influential works.\u00a0 One of the intellectual giants of the twentieth century and arguably the most influential Christian writer of his day, C.S. Lewis was a Fellow and Tutor of English literature at Oxford University until 1954 when he was unanimously elected to the Chair of Medieval and Renaissance English at Cambridge University, a position he held until his retirement. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span>His major contributions in literary criticism, children\u2019s literature, fantasy literature, and popular theology brought him international renown.\u00a0 He wrote more than thirty books, allowing him to reach a vast audience, and his works continue to attract millions of new readers every year.\u00a0 His most distinguished and popular accomplishments include:\u00a0 <em>The Chronicles of Narnia, Out of the Silent Planet, and Mere Christianity.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><strong><span>THE SCREWTAPE LETTERS<\/span><\/strong><span> opened in New York in the fall of 2007 at the Theatre at St. Clement\u2019s for twelve sold-out weeks to rave reviews from audiences and critics alike. In April 2008 it transferred to The Shakespeare Theatre Company\u2019s Lansburgh Theatre in Washington, D.C. for a five week run.\u00a0 Again it played for sold out and standing room-only audiences.\u00a0 In October 2008, it transferred again to the Mercury Theater in Chicago for a scheduled six week run that grew to six months.\u00a0 The <em>Chicago Tribune<\/em> called it \u201cthe most successful show in the history of the Mercury Theater.\u201d\u00a0 In the fall of 2009 <strong>SCREWTAPE<\/strong> embarked on a five city tour including San Francisco, Phoenix, Louisville, Ft.
