Lewis&#8217;s Space Trilogy (<em>Out of the Silent Planet<\/em>, <em>Perelandra<\/em>, and <em>That Hideous Strength<\/em>), <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thenewamerican.com\/reviews\/books\/8929-a-review-of-qcs-lewis-on-the-final-frontierq\">James Heiser recently posted a new review of\u00a0Sanford Schwartz&#8217;s book, <em>C.S. Lewis on the Final Frontier<\/em><\/a>. \u00a0Here is an excerpt:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Lewis\u2019 \u201cSpace Trilogy\u201d \u2014 <em>Out of the Silent Planet<\/em> (1938), <em>Perelandra<\/em> (1943) and <em>That Hideous Strength<\/em> (1945) \u2014 was written for a more mature audience than that which is  addressed in the Narnia tales, but these books have rarely received the  scholarly attention they so richly deserve. Schwartz\u2019s book, <em>C. S. Lewis on the Final Frontier: Science and the Supernatural in the Space Trilogy<\/em>,  offers a worthy correction to this deficit. Schwartz provides careful  attention to the internal structure of each book, but even more  importantly, he relates the development of Lewis\u2019 thought to his study  of science and philosophy \u2014 both ancient and modern \u2014 and the  implications of modern currents in human thought for the spiritual  future of our species.<\/p>\n<p>Schwartz\u2019s study is based on three premises: First, a shared \u201cinternal  configuration\u201d to all three works, second, \u201csignificant changes in the  representation of the modern evolutionary model as the series proceeds,\u201d  and, third, Lewis\u2019 Augustinian view that \u201cbad things are good things  perverted.\u201d The significance of these premises, which Schwartz proceeds  to demonstrate with sufficient scholarship, is quite significant to  understanding the entirety of the \u201cSpace Trilogy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For those of you interested in C.S.
