\"\"<\/a>Our friend, volunteer, and conference alumnus, Chris Baron, is releasing his first book of poetry in October. If you are in Southern California, please support him by attending his book release party at San Diego City College.<\/p>\n

Below is a message from Chris giving the details of his book and the release party:<\/p>\n

“Dear Friends, Family, Colleagues, and other Mere Christians,<\/p>\n

I am so pleased to share with you that my first book of poems, Under the Broom Tree<\/em>, will be released this October in a wonderful collection alongside Heather Eudy, Cali Linfor, and Sabrina Youmans in Lantern Tree: Four Books of Poems<\/em> published by City Works Press.<\/p>\n

Lantern Tree: Four Books of Poems<\/em> is a luminous collaboration that explores life\u2019s spaces–\u2013the lanterns of relation, journey, spirit, desire, loss, and home. At once disparate and entangled, the voices found here are those of Chris Baron in Under the Broom Tree, Heather Eudy in Bills of Lading, Cali Linfor in A Book of Ugly Things, and Sabrina Youmans in Pacific Standard Time. The lantern tree acknowledges that many hands are needed to assemble the possibility of light. But, of course, each book is a thing of its own, hangs a light of its own, makes and unmakes a home of its own. To read these poems is to be transported and rooted within shadow and light.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Our book release and kickoff reading will be held Friday, October 5, from 7 to 9 pm in the Saville Theater on the San Diego City College Campus as part of the San Diego City College International Bookfair. You can visit http:\/\/www.sdcitybookfair.com\/schedule.html <\/a>for more details. The event is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n
