OX-07 and CAM-07 ~ Drawing Workshop:  "Drawing Metaphors of Self & Meaning" with Duncan Simcoe

One of the reasons that Lewis was a successful writer of fiction was his ability to create compelling characters (selves) and to reveal how they developed over the course of the narrative. Sometimes this was conveyed through naturalistic description, while at other times he resorted to aggressive use of metaphorical imagery, appropriate to the fantasy genre that he favored.  In keeping with the Oxbridge 2008 theme, this drawing workshop will focus on the visual construction of metaphors of the self, applying traditional charcoal-based techniques to suggest complexity/layering of meaning.  The workshop will be conducted in-studio. A $30 materials fee will be charged to cover the drawing equipment provided.  Additional instructions will be provided upon enrollment.
