The C.S. Lewis Study Center

Housed in the historic “Green Pastures” home built in 1887, the C. S. Lewis Study Center in Northfield, Massachusetts, serves as a focal point of Christian hospitality, study, reflection, and learned conversation in New England.

Our programs are an embodiment of C.S. Lewis’s concept of “Mere Christianity,” inviting the participation of Christians from all historic communions, and welcoming all in the pursuit of truth, goodness and beauty.

The Study Center encourages and equips those who desire to thoughtfully and winsomely address issues of faith and culture within their sphere of influence. Special topics address issues of interest to faculty of university, boarding schools and other educational venues, church and civic leaders, and a variety of professionals who seek to express their Christian faith throughout the full range of disciplines.

The C.S. Lewis Foundation

Incorporated in 1986 (but sparked in 1972), the C.S. Lewis Foundation was founded to address issues arising from the ever-increasing secularization of culture, particularly in the university and arts worlds. These issues continue to this day as we, in our calling as Christians, seek to remain the “salt and the light” to the world around us through cultural engagement, stewardship, and education.

Inspired by the life and legacy of C.S. Lewis, we encourage and equip Christians to live out their faith within the world of ideas and the arts. Our programs produce spiritually equipped and culturally literate Christians who are transformative in whatever area they may be called to serve.

Consortium of Christian Study Centers

The Consortium of Christian Study Centers grows out of the grassroots Christian Study Center movement. Christian Study Centers are hubs of Christian community, hospitality and learning—gathering places for students and scholars animated by the ancient ideal of faith seeking understanding.

Located at (or adjacent to) secular colleges and universities, study centers support and complement their host institutions’ mission to discover and disseminate knowledge by providing co-curricular programming that leans into the enduring human questions of meaning, purpose and value. Programming typically consists of lectures, courses, reading or film discussion groups, and fellows programs, often in a residential or other hospitality-oriented facility.

We seek to inhabit and serve the academic campuses and communities of which we are a part – and to do so as Christians.
